What happens when a transfer is declined?
When a money transfer you sent is declined by the recipient, Bounce cancels the transaction and refunds you in full.
The refund is automatic: no action is required on your part.
The money is returned to the account or wallet you used for the original transfer. In some cases, if the cancellation happens quickly, the bank may cancel the transaction before the funds are even debited. In that case, there will be no debit or refund in your account.
Why can this be surprising?
In the app, the refund will be shown, but in your bank account, the system does not clearly specify that it is a refund.
It may appear as if you received a transfer, when in fact it is simply the original funds from the declined transaction being returned.
Do I need to do anything?
No, you do not need to take any action.
The funds are securely returned to your original account. If necessary, you can contact your friend or resend the funds.
Special cases / good to know:
This behaviour is normal and expected in the Bounce system.
No fees are charged when a refund is issued following a declined transfer.
